Cotton & Company is not a typical CPA firm. Our specialized practice focus sets us apart. Our professional philosophy makes us unique.
Practice Focus
Many years ago, we made a conscious decision to specialize in government organizations, programs, activities, and functions. Through the years, we have taken vertical cuts into this specialized practice focus area, wherein we strive to continue to learn more and more about government programs and how they operate, and how government operations can be improved.
We audit some of the largest and most prestigious clients in the world. We assist some of the largest and most complex agencies and programs in operating more effectively and complying with evolving laws, rules, and regulations.
Philosophies
We believe that the foundation upon which the CPA professional built its "most-trusted professional" reputation is independence. C&C does not just strive to maintain independence, we insist on being fiercely independent. We do not take on consulting for any audit clients. We do not do any audit work for consulting clients. We will walk away from any client who tries to

compromise our objectivity and independence. Two other guiding philosophies that have contributed to our success are the views that work should be fun, and a healthy work-life balance must be maintained.
Armed with the knowledge that (due to our experience and expertise) we can win more than our share of competitive engagements, we specifically seek out and pursue engagements that offer intellectual challenge, exciting travel opportunities, and just plain fun. We look for jobs that we think our employees will find stimulating, attention absorbing, and knowledge-enhancing.
Many CPA firms demand that employees work long hours and achieve high chargeable hour goals. C&C believes that employees should strike an optimum balance between challenging work and a healthy family and social life. We ask employees to work a normal work week. Most employees find the work sufficiently challenging that they often work longer. We also encourage employees to participate in extracurricular activities: from professional association involvement and service, to the company volleyball and softball teams, to the occasional happy-hour gatherings. We want C&C to be a challenging, rewarding, and fun place to build a professional career.
